From a young age, I was captivated by the art of midwifery. As the oldest of five siblings, all born at home, I had a front-row seat to the beauty of homebirth and the incredible care midwives provide. My mom, who trained as a midwife before I was born, attended births even after starting our family. Growing up in Texas, I was surrounded by families who chose homebirth and worked with midwives. I often accompanied my mom to midwifery appointments and eagerly listened to the stories of the births she attended, each one fascinating and inspiring. By the time I was ten, I knew without a doubt that I wanted to be a midwife.
I grew up in a family that was deeply invested in health and wellness. My dad was constantly researching new ways to optimize health, and live a natural holistic lifestyle. I grew up eating all organic and learning about herbs, natural supplements and wild foods and it shaped my values and approach to life.
I began my apprenticeship in Arkansas at age 17, working closely with the Amish community where I gained valuable hands-on experience. From there, I trained with Baby Moon Midwifery Service in Missouri and attended the Holistic Birth Institute. After graduating in 2024 and obtaining my certification through NARM, I continued working as a fourth midwife with Baby Moon Midwifery before starting my own midwifery practice to help fill the gap of needed midwives closer to my area in Southern Missouri. These experiences have been instrumental in shaping my skills and knowledge as a midwife.
My journey to becoming a midwife has been exciting and deeply fulfilling. I began taking midwifery classes and training as soon as I could, and I feel so blessed to be able to support families in welcoming their new babies into the world.
